Dear TIPS member,
From September to December 2025, the TIPS Network’s managing committee delivered an engaging events programme and advocated important new Transparency International (TI) publications to members. Together, recent activities reaffirm TIPS’ role in bringing diverse professionals together and amplifying TI-UK’s advocacy and impact across varied professional networks at the forefront of transparency and anti-financial crime in London.
September’s event on ‘Collective Action & Compliance Innovation in Maritime Risk’ hosted by Control Risks and the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network explored how public–private cooperation can tackle bribery risks in complex operating environments. In October, ‘From Anti-Bribery to Cybersecurity: Confronting Evolving Risk’ broadened the discussion, examining how lessons from anti-bribery compliance can inform stronger approaches to cybersecurity and emerging risks. November’s event focused on the book ‘Indulging Kleptocracy’ and provoked a lively debate around professional enablers, alliances and enforcement gaps. December’s inaugural Christmas Social event then was a chance to reflect on the Network’s growth, growing events programme and the importance of partnerships.
TIPS highlighted several relevant TI publications. ‘Public Loans, Private Gains’ examined corruption risks across the public debt cycle. ‘Closing the Blind Spot’ connected corruption in defence and security to gendered harm within the Women, Peace and Security agenda. ‘Opening Up Offshore Secrecy’ assessed limited progress on beneficial ownership transparency in the UK Overseas Territories. Finally, ‘Missing in Action’ showed how UNCAC reviews often overlook civic space in practice.
