Dear all
This is my first Christmas as Chief Executive at Transparency International UK. As 2019 comes to an end, I wanted to thank the TIPS Network for its continued support for our work and the fight against corruption in the UK and globally.
I am delighted to be able to say that this year we have continued to influence policy and approaches to combating corruption in business, politics and more widely.
I thought I’d give you a taste of some of our key highlights. They include:
The positive response and widespread coverage of our “At Your Service” report that looked at how professional services enable the corrupt elite to launder their reputations and embed themselves in the UK.
Our Business Integrity Programme’s reputation as a go to source for ways of preventing and avoiding corruption in the world of business continued to grow, with the updating and relaunch of our anti-bribery guidance and e-training. Our Business Integrity Forum (BIF) whose members include GSK, Vodaphone, HSBC and PWC also continues to go from strength to strength with two forum events discussing key issues facing businesses today.
We have also had some major achievements in our non-business focused areas of work. Our Defence and Security programme (TI-DS) just launched the latest Government Defence Integrity Index, which assesses the risk of corruption in the defence sector in countries around the world – an important tool for reform-minded governments and civil society.
Meanwhile, our Health Initiative (TI-HI) helped to put corruption in the sector on the map with its “Ignored Pandemic” report, raising awareness of an important but little discussed issue in global health care.
Your support is really important to us and helps to get our messages about the importance of fighting corruption out to the professional world.
I look forward to working with you in 2020 and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Yours warmly
Daniel Bruce
Chief Executive, Transparency International UK
